Mission

Purpose of the Presbyterian Church of Broomfield:
To glorify God as an inspirational community of faith that:

  • Welcomes people in worship of the triune God
  • Shares the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ to neighbors near and far, and
  • Challenges people to service and a deeper discovery of God's truth and love.

Mission Statement:

We, the people of the Presbyterian Church of Broomfield, are called to love and serve God and humankind.
Our direction and authority come from God. We are guided in life and faith by the Scriptures.
We seek to wisely build upon our heritage shared in the Book of Confessions, and the Book of Order of the Presbyterian Church, USA. We provide opportunities for worship, Christian discipleship, fellowship, mission, and use of our facilities. We offer the opportunity to serve others in ever widening circles: in our congregation, the community, the country, and the global village so that the lost and the needy everywhere are touched.

Mission Team: Anne Krueger and Martin Ashley

The Missions Committee is doing a few things differently this year. This will provide us with an opportunity to explore new places in our area for “hands on” mission work.

  • November 9th is our serve day for New Genesis Shelter.
  • NEW for December may be another event for Kids’ Hope

Team News & Upcoming Mission Events

New Genesis

We will be serving the meal at Denver’s New Genesis Homeless Shelter one the second Sunday of every other month. If you are able to help by donating food items, please see the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board. Going down to serve the meal always proves to be a wonderful experience! If you are interested you can put your name down on the sign-up sheet and/or if you have any questions about it, please feel free to contact Anne Krueger.

Operation Christmas Child

Messages of God's love in a shoe box.  Yes, it is time to think of Operation Christmas Child (OCC) and the fun we have preparing shoe boxes.

OCC is sponsored by Samaritan's Purse and overseen by Franklin Graham.  For several years our congregation has taken part in the preparation of shoe boxes to be sent overseas by Samaritan's Purse to children ages 2-14 in over 105 countries.

Please bring your boxes to the church November 16 thru November 23. We can pick them up on the evening of the 23rd and deliver them to the processing center on November 24.

I took my 3 grandchildren (ages 3, 7 and 10) and they had a fun time shopping for items for the boxes. This is such an exciting mission project outside of the many missions our church sponsors. The mission committee thanks you all for your enthusiastic response to this sharing of the Good News across the world.

Uganda - Chain Foundation - Blind Children Project

It is estimated that there are over 400,000 blind children in Uganda and only 21% have access to education.  These children live a very miserable life.  They are kept behind doors and those who have managed to come out turn out to be beggars  due to lack of relevant training and professionalism.  They are often stigmatized, isolated, and denied medical care; yet 75% of the conditions causing blindness may be preventable.  It is sad to indicate that sometimes Blind children are offered as human sacrifices during some of the uncivilized cultural practices.
Chain Foundation in 2006 started assisting these children by giving them new accommodations, education, medical care and counseling.  Right now 36 children, both boys and girls between the ages of 5-12, are being looked after directly by
Chain Foundation.  We are planning to start with 50 blind children, making support available; more will be taken on with time.  Blind children were brought to Chain Orphanage which already had orphans and other vulnerable children.  The idea is to keep them together so that sighted children can help those with visual impairment.  We have managed to build a primary school, which will be opened in July 2009.  The school is for both blind and sighted children.  It costs $50 per month to look after one blind child; medical care, education, and food included.
Blind children need quite a number of scholastic materials some of which are not readily available on the Ugandan market.  Such items include Braille paper single, Braille papers for computerized embossing, geometry set; standard plastic, Brailed and large print playing cards, clear tactile 20cm ruler, Perkins (Braille writers); goal balls, soccer balls, digital talking watches, etc.
We would like to start a music class and we are in need of musical instruments, i.e.: piano, guitars, trumpets, brass band instruments, etc.  We also need a volunteer music teacher. See Anne or Martin for more details.

Food Shelf

Please remember that the first Sunday of every month is when we bring food for FISH. Please place it in the basket located by the stairs going down to the church school rooms. Also, PLEASE put your donations in bags or sacks rather than leaving them loose so that it will be easier for us to transport them.

Here are of the folks who went Trick or Treating for Broomfield Fish and the 481 lbs of food that was collected in the 2 hours.  It was a great night, beautiful weather
and a lot of fun.

"We are blessed to support so many Mission Partners here in Colorado and around the world.  All are working to spread God's love to those in need whether they are ministering to a college student, serving a meal to a homeless teen or translating God's Word into a native language.  If you're interested in learning more, please visit their websites."
