Discipleship Team - Doug Tracy and Mary Hellen The Discipleship Team has several on-going programs which include the Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Children's Church, Adults Seminars, the Alpha program as well as summer book groups. Adult Sunday School - The Network Course. Sundays at 9:30 AM October 5th - November 9th. Through the power of your own personal story, The Network Course takes you on a wonderful journey that assists you in discovering your spiritual gifts, your style, and your passion. At one time or another you might have taken a simple, one-dimensional inventory to determine your spiritual gifts -- and may have questioned the accuracy of the results. That's why the Network course uses four assessments: experiences, traits, convictions, and observations) that measure your strengths from different approaches -- better enabling you to identify your God-given talents. An additional assessment allows you to gauge the effectiveness of your ministry and whether you are best employing your gifts. The course is an interesting and fun way to discover your gifts and your passion for doing the Lord's work. We think we know ourselves but it is good to examine from a different path and find the unique identity Christ gives us. Even if you think you already know what your spiritual gifts are, we encourage you to come to this six week course and reexamine the ways God has shaped you and enabled you to share in the body of Christ. In 2002, Barbara Emery-Geiger and Doug Geiger traveled on their own to Israel for over three weeks. They will be sharing their experiences and reflections in a four-week adult Sunday School class November 23, 30, December 7 and 14th. Each class consists of digital pictures shown from a laptop computer along with video clips, a handout of Biblical verses for the places seen and lots of things to pass around. Doug and Barbara are members of Central Presbyterian Church in Longmont and have traveled many times in the middle-east, including Greece, Cyprus, Crete, Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey. They both teach Bible Study classes at their church in Longmont. The classes will be: Class 1 – Nov 23 – Caesarea, Land of Israel museum, views of Tel Aviv, Jaffa, Acre/Acco, the Golan Heights, Banias (Caesarea Philippi and waterfalls), Tel Dan and the Good Fence (Lebanese border). Class 2 – Nov 30 – Sea of Galilee (Ginosaur Jesus boat, Capernaum, Loaves/Fishes church, Beatitudes church, Yardinnet baptism on the Jordan River), Bet-Shean Roman and Byzantine ruins and Megiddo (Armageddon). Class 3 – Dec 7 – Jerusalem – Israeli and Wohl museums, Church of the Holy Sepulcher for Orthodox Good Friday and the Easter Saturday Flame ceremony, the Armenian patriarch and church, Western Wall and under the Wall tour, Mount of Olives, souk shopping and the Via Dolorosa. Class 4 – Dec 14 – Masada, Dead Sea, Timna Egyptian copper mines, tabernacle replica, St. Katherine’s Monastery in Sinai Egypt and Petra in Jordan. We hope you can join us and hear and see the modern and ancient Holy Land. Maybe you too will be inspired to visit Israel soon!
